Who the HELL am I?

Since you’re here, I figure you might be interested in finding out a bit more about myself and how I got to where I am today. Below, you’ll learn about my upbringing, my education, and my, albeit brief, journey through adulthood. Let’s call it a Life Resumé of sorts…

Upbringing

On October 25, 2000, I was born in St. Petersburg, Florida. I was the only one of my siblings born in Florida and it wouldn’t take long before the family moved back up to Connecticut, where I’d do the majority of my growing up.

My parents would end up splitting relatively shortly thereafter, long before I have any type of memories. At that point, each parent settled on different sides of what would become my hometown, New Haven, Connecticut.

Throughout my upbringing I would be based in New Haven, but was lucky enough to regularly visit my family in Florida and Puerto Rico with either my father or mother nearly every summer.

Education

Given I did a vast majority of my growing up in Connecticut, I also completed a vast majority of my education there. From kindergarten to eighth grade I went to Worthington Hooker School, one of the best public schools in New Haven, and enjoyed a pretty sensational educational and social experience, if I do say so myself.

Unlike many school districts in the nation, the New Haven public school district offered nearly a dozen options to students when I was applying for high school. While many of my friends and peers from Hooker went to the largest high school in the area, I decided to go to one of the smallest, Sound School.

With not even 400 students when I was there, it was really quite the small school experience. As a Vocational Aqua/Agricultural Tech school, I went down the Greenhouse Technology route during my four years there and came away with many new skills and interests. In particular, I learned how valuable being outside was to me and how important it is to understand the simple mechanisms of the earthly world around us, as that shit can go a long way.

I’d be lucky enough to graduate highschool in pretty good standing despite plenty of tomfoolery during my time there. From there I got a nice scholarship and some help from my grandparents to pave the way for me to return to St. Petersburg, FL to attend Eckerd College for all four years of my undergraduate degree.

Needless to say, Eckerd was dope. I’d get into it now, but we’ll leave it at a IYKYK type of spot for the moment ;-)

Adulthood

After attending all four years of undergrad at Eckerd down in FL, I went back up north to New Haven again. I moved back into my mom’s house, after having been there for the COVID break during my sophomore/junior year of undergrad, so things hadn’t changed a ton.

What did change was I started working. During college I always kept part-time jobs, but moving home meant I needed to always be doing something and at the time that meant working full time.

First, it was working at a liqour store. Then, I thought I wanted to get into Sports Management so I worked at the local soccer team, Hartford Athletic. I quickly learned there that quality is not necessarily rewarded and that I was not willing to kiss the asses that needed kissing in order to be successful there.

During this time I met my beautiful wife, Manu. While we met totally seperate from any job and in the truly modern way, through a dating app, falling in love with her helped me solidify that moving around the country for work wasn’t where my heart was. I wanted to be close to her and my family, so after leaving Hartford Athletic with some truly lifelong memories, I would go on to work another variety of jobs, trying to find “the one”.

Well, I never did. I worked at a bank, I was a soccer referee, hell, I even worked at the Postal Service briefly. None of them ever felt right or offered the type of upward mobility or freedom that I desired. Tall order, right?

So I found myself here, trying to make something for myself through my art and radical sense of self-belief. I like to think it will work out, but I guess we all shall see…
